Training and Capacity Building Officer
Mukundi Mukundamago is a highly accomplished environmental scientist, researcher, and capacity-building expert with extensive experience in biodiversity conservation and community empowerment. With a strong academic foundation, including an MSc in Conservation Ecology, Mukundi has spent over ten (10) years designing and implementing impactful training programs tailored to diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, and community members.
Mukundi’s expertise spans developing training materials, workshops, and manuals on health, education, and sustainable environmental practices. She is also well-versed in biodiversity research and invasive alien species management, with technical proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Professionally, Mukundi has worked with renowned organizations such as the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), Limpopo Department of Economic Development LEDET, Environment and Tourism, and University of Venda, Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe). Additionally, she has been a scholarship ambassador with Africademics, helping young scholars to prepare applications and secure scholarships within and outside Africa.
Through her work, Mukundi has achieved numerous milestones, including publishing several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on conservation and environmental management. Her areas of specialization include capacity development, youth empowerment, invasive species management, habitat restoration, and climate change mitigation. As a capacity-building expert, Mukundi excels in training and facilitation, program management, research, and data analysis, with a focus on building capacity and promoting sustainable development in Africa.
Mukundi is a member of several professional associations, including the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (IScA), Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) African Region, and Entomological Society of Southern Africa (ESSA). Her dedication to environmental preservation and community growth has created meaningful and lasting impacts in both her field and the communities she serves.
